JAMESTOWN — Nearly two years after its kitchen and dining center was lost in a fire, the University of Jamestown is close to opening its new cafeteria. The new Caf 405 is where students will have a set spot to gather and eat meals. It's a part of the newly renovated student union that also includes an outdoor patio. For the past 22 months, students and staff were eating at various spots around campus, including the Hansen Center. The new dining center also includes more space for cooking and seating. The past two years have been challenging, said Paul Olson, executive vice president and provost, noting that food serves a purpose beyond nourishment — it brings people together and helps foster a sense of community that is central university life. The new cafeteria will open for students on Nov. 2. ]]>
